Ben Simmons and Jimmy Butler might not mesh in a traditional way. But that doesn’t mean they can’t make their pairing work.

When the Sixers traded for Jimmy Butler, I immediately thought back to the 2015-16 season. I was working for the Sixers at the time, and, if you recall, we did not win many games that year. That, though, meant we knew pretty early on that we’d have one of the top picks in the draft, and so, from the beginning, I focused on studying the prospects at the top of our scouts’ draft boards.
