There are so many ways to make Cleaning the Glass better and not enough time to do it. Whether building new features on the Stats site, expanding into more areas of analysis (G League, college, international), making Predict as engaging as possible, or improving the user experience for Articles, my to-do list is quite long. But there’s a limit to my time. There are only so many hours to watch basketball, write, cut video, and program.
I’m committed, though, to making Cleaning the Glass as good as it can be. So I have decided to hire a full-time programmer.
I’ll be upfront: Cleaning the Glass is still a young company, and I can’t afford to pay a Silicon Valley salary. But if spending your time working with me on building cool basketball-related tools with the freedom to work from wherever, whenever sounds exciting, then please keep reading.
I’m specifically looking for a full-stack web developer, someone with experience working with databases, with back-end programming (like Python), and with front-end development (HTML/CSS/JavaScript).
You’d help me work on things like:
- Building out new features and fixing bugs on the stats site
- Enhancing and debugging the data pipeline and database
- Improving the user experience for articles
- Helping to create and maintain new projects like Predict
- Working with the other programming contributors
If you’re interested and have the right skillset, the hiring process will work something like this:
- Fill out this short form
- If you seem to be the right type of fit for what I’m looking for, I will reach out
- If we’re both interested in moving forward, you can become a programming contributor for a short period of time. That will mean putting some hours in here and there around your current work to help on small projects that are similar to what you’d do if you took the job. I will pay for that work. You can get familiar with the codebase. We can see what it’s like working together.
Cleaning the Glass is built on: PostgreSQL, Python, Django Framework, and WordPress. Experience with any and all is not necessary, but is a bonus.
Other nice-but-not-necessary skills:
- DevOps / System administration, i.e maintaining the servers and deployment pipeline
- Mobile app development
- Experience or interest in data visualization
- A good design eye
