Three's a Crowd

The collapse of the “Brooks” trade was worth a laugh, but also highlights one of the real challenges of three-team deals.

We’ve had our share of ridiculous NBA moments in recent years, and on Friday night we added another to the list: the Brooks mix-up. A three-team trade fell apart at the last minute when the leaked details of the deal revealed that Phoenix thought it was receiving Memphis’ Dillon Brooks while the Grizzlies thought they were sending out the less-coveted MarShon Brooks.

While the rest of the NBA world was having a good laugh at the events (one perhaps tinged with schadenfreude), I was having flashbacks.
